an unusual rain

As a gentleman, Alfred is always prepared for rain. As former British intelligence officer and the man who brought up the child who would become Batman, Alfred is always prepared. Or that is, he certainly does his best to be.
But Gotham is a strange place to prepare for, and frankly, Alfred had never expected rain like this. It's not the volume of the weather coming down that surprises him -- though it is, certainly, daunting in and of itself -- but rather, the curious nature of the clouds producing it, blood-red in the middle of the day.
As he seeks shelter from the storm, watching the streets filling with rain, Alfred wonders for a moment if it could get any worse, only to realize with a sinking certainty that some part of him, in fact, knows it will.
